Among the refugees, the Bloody Flux was spreading. So many had come to Meereen from Astapor and the numbers would likely only increase as the days went by. What little Daenerys could do, she tried. Food was sent, even as the storerooms started to empty at a faster rate. She sent healers, Blue Graces, and Spell Singers, but they were slowly becoming overworked. Even the oil she ordered for the pyres was dwindling.
With the ships from Qarth, Tolos, and New Ghis blocking the harbor, it was unlikely that supplies could reach them in time, if anything could arrive at all. She didn't have the numbers to wage war against them and keep the peace in her city, meanwhile she was counting the days that Hizdar managed to fulfill his promise and avert more Harpy attacks.
With all of these things weighing on her mind, Dany wearily walked back towards the Great Pyramid. Her entourage was with her but kept a bit of distance, granting her a moment of privacy to think over her options. Really though, she was wishing for a bath, something warm to eat and a night of sleep. Too often her nights had been sleepless, too often she had been overburden with troubles.
The people disappeared around her, becoming hazy figures passing as quickly as clouds. Her peace was disturbed by a few of her soldiers charging in front of her, blocking her path where a stranger seemed to be standing in the middle of the street. He didn't have the look of a noble or one of the freedmen. His attire was strange and foreign. Unsurprisingly, her men must have assumed he was an assassin.
She placed her hand on Strong Belwas's arm and stepped between her men, unafraid. "Were you among the refugees?"
